Awaken to silver-green light

2021, Dyptich of handwoven Jacquard fabric, polyester and cotton, interwoven with silver, 160x120 cm each

An insect trapped between the inner and outer walls of a camping tent early in the morning. A sort of modern day vanitas still life. The combination of color and structure, the delicate wings and the moireeing mesh inspired me to explore the possibilities of modern weaving. Treating each of the 3456 photographic pixels as singular warp threads enabled me to translate the photographs „back“ into hand woven textiles. The tapestries are interwoven with silver thread inducing the morning light of the scene.
