In The Mass Ornament (1922), Siegfried Kracauer writes about the connection of people due to their suffering caused by the lack of a higher meaning in the world: “Perhaps the only remaining attitude is one of waiting. (…) One waits, and one‘s waiting is a hesitant openness, albeit of a sort that is difficult to explain.”
These words in mind, I came across the scene of an abandoned bus stop at night, where the blurred outlines of human bodies could be seen on a frozen glass wall. A reference to those who waited, whose silhouettes gradually dissolve until they disappear.
